- I’m writing a journal article on generative AI. My interest in the space is based on my prior creative practice and media studies work: how might we understand this new technology from a cultural and media infrastructure perspective?
- With this firmly in mind, I’m developing a Media Studio generative AI, creativity and everyday life. This undergraduate class complements ongoing work on creative uses of AI, beginning with the Re/Framing event I’ve organised for July 2024. In May and June, I’ll be working to redevelop two courses for RMIT’s Master of Media program. I’m working on a sustainable teaching practice that lets me explore new ideas while not burning myself out, as per:
- In the latter half of 2023, I took an extended break from work. During that time away, I managed to play some piano and electric guitar, read a couple of books, watch a couple of movies for pleasure, and do some exercise. These are all things I’m trying to continue as I get back into work this year.
- I’m writing a … something … that’s a kind of bureaucratic sci-fi systems thriller. I think. I manage to throw a couple of ideas into my notes every other week (for now the idea exists solely in fragments in my Obsidian).
- At the moment, I’m reading The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson. I read The Final Empire last year and thoroughly enjoyed.
- I’m two-thirds of the way through Dark City (1998). You know how it is.
